About Amy.
I'm a family photographer based in Penzance. Born and raised here, one of twelve (eight brothers, in case you were wondering). It was loud, lovely, and a little chaotic.
I left for a while. Cruise ships first, then a couple of years working at a studio in Perth, then about eighty countries with a camera over five years. It was wonderful, all of it. But coming home made it pretty obvious there really is no place like West Cornwall, and that the families and small businesses down here are worth celebrating.
So that's the work now. Family sessions, elopements, the occasional short film. If the words 'I hate having my photo taken' have ever come out of your mouth, you're in good company. I've been there too, and honestly, those are the sessions I love most. The 'photo fear' tends to melt as soon as we've got going.

A few things worth knowing.
Where are you based, and how far do you travel?
I'm based in Penzance, right at the far western edge of Cornwall, and most of my work is around West Cornwall: the coast, the moors, the villages. I travel further afield for weddings and the right projects, so do ask if you're elsewhere in the county.
What does 'Lowen' mean?
It's the Cornish word for happy. After a few years and around eighty countries with a camera, I came home wanting to put the good stuff back in the spotlight: the families, the small businesses, and the corner of the world I love most. That's the idea behind the name.
I hate having my photo taken. Can you still help?
You're far from alone, and it's genuinely where most sessions begin. I've had my own photo fear, so I keep things calm, gentle, and unhurried, and plan around the people in front of me. The stiffness nearly always melts once we've got going.
What kinds of photography do you offer?
Weddings and elopements, family sessions, photo-and-film sittings, headshots, and commercial work for local businesses. Family is the heart of it, but if you've something else in mind, do ask. I'd rather hear the idea than have you assume it doesn't fit.
How do I book a session?
Drop me a line through the enquiry form with a little about what you have in mind. We'll have a chat to make sure it's a good fit, then I'll talk you through the next steps. No hard sell, just a proper conversation first.
When will I see my photographs?
Family and portrait galleries usually arrive within about two weeks, and weddings within a few weeks of the day. Everything comes in a private online gallery, gently edited and ready to download, share, and print.
